The Timberline rental fleet is designed for touring, and will come with this type of tire. As for the food on the "Main Street of America". You'll be able to eat like someone traveling in 1935 would have -- pancakes, burgers, sopapillas, root beer, french toast, milk shakes, more burgers, as well as the much loved cuisine of the American Southwest. Modern treats are available too!

In general, the terrain across Oklahoma is a gradual uphill again. In the upper portion of Texas, referred to as the Panhandle, the Great Plains become a reality in the flat, wide open expanse of country we will be riding through. Amarillo, Texas is the last large city on the route before you reach the midpoint of Historic Route 66 in Adrian, Texas. In New Mexico, we will follow a pre-1937 alignment of route 66. After a day off in Santa Fe, there is a surprise in store for us as we pedal to Albuquerque, an optional little detour with a huge reward. Not far from Albuquerque, there is a turn to Sandia Crest, the long, high ridge in the Sandia Mountains. If you have the time and plenty of reserves in your leg muscles for this climb... take it.
